What is a day pillar?
In Korean Saju (사주, the Four Pillars of Destiny) your birth moment is written as four pairs of characters: year, month, day and hour. The day pillar (일주, ilju) is the pair for the day you were born. Its top character, the heavenly stem, is your day master, the symbol of you; its bottom character, the earthly branch, is the spouse palace, read as your private self and closest relationships.
Ten stems and twelve branches combine in a fixed order to make 60 pillars, the sexagenary cycle (60 Gapja). Each article below explains one pillar: its elements, hidden stems, 12 life stage, personality, love and compatibility, career themes and how it meets the 2027 Jeongmi (丁未) year. All interpretations are traditional and offered for entertainment.
