Eul-Chuk day pillar personality
- enduring
- frugal
- quietly tough
Eul-Chuk is the small plant that makes it through winter. The Ox branch holds Earth (wealth for Eul) with Metal hidden inside, so the reading is practical, careful with money and much tougher than it looks. These people rarely complain; they simply outlast. The tradition-minded warning is a cold climate inside: worry and stubbornness can set in if they never let others help.
The Eul day master
Eul (乙) is the grass and the vine: flexible, sociable and quietly tenacious. It bends with the wind instead of breaking and finds a way around obstacles rather than through them.
Sitting on Chuk (丑)
Chuk (丑) is frozen winter soil that stores water and metal. As a day branch it adds patience, frugality and a slow, sure way of building things. Its main hidden stem, 己, is Indirect Wealth to a Eul day master (big money, activity, opportunity), so the inner self leans toward big money.
Like every one of the 60 pillars, Eul-Chuk pairs a stem and a branch of the same polarity, so it is a purely yin pillar: receptive, inward and subtle in expression.
Hidden stems and the 12 life stages
Every earthly branch carries one to three hidden stems (지장간, jijanggan). Their share follows the traditional day-count table (월률분야) used by the site’s Saju calculator. Each hidden stem becomes a ten god when compared with the day master 乙.
| Hidden stem | Element | Role | Days | Ten god | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 癸 Gye | Yin Water | residual qi | 9 | Indirect Resource | intuition, unusual learning, solitude |
| Sin | Yin Metal | middle qi | 3 | Seven Killings | pressure, courage, authority |
| 己 Gi | Yin Earth | main qi | 18 | Indirect Wealth | big money, activity, opportunity |
Life stage: Decline (쇠)
Decline (Soe) is the experienced elder past the peak: calm, prudent and reliable. It suggests maturity beyond one’s years and a preference for safe, proven methods. For Eul, that stage falls exactly on Chuk, so the pillar’s own branch shows calm maturity.
Five-element balance
On its own, the Eul-Chuk pillar is led by Wood (50%), followed by Earth (30%), Water (15%), Metal (5%). Fire is absent from the pillar itself.
One pillar is only two of the eight characters in a full chart; the year, month and hour pillars often fill the gaps. Tradition treats under-represented elements as balancing themes, for example Fire → warm light, exercise that makes you sweat, social plans; Metal → decluttering, deep breathing, clear decisions.
Eul-Chuk in love and compatibility
The day branch is called the spouse palace. With Indirect Wealth in the spouse palace, the partner is often lively, sociable or business-minded, and dates tend to be active. Generosity runs high, so shared budgeting helps.
As a Eul day master, Eul-Chuk is attentive and affectionate, reads a partner's mood well and values everyday tenderness. Storage (“flower-canopy”) branch: Jin, Sul, Chuk and Mi close each season and store its energy. Tradition links them with Hwagae (華蓋): reflection, study, art and spiritual interests.
Compatible and challenging day pillars
- Best traditional match: Gyeong-Ja (庚子) — stems combine (乙 + 庚 → Metal) and branches form a six-harmony (丑 + 子).
- Friendly branches: Ja (Rat) (six-harmony) and Sa (巳) and Yu (酉) (three-harmony Metal frame).
- Most tension: Sin-Mi (辛未) — the branches clash (丑 vs 未) and the stems clash.
Compatibility in Saju compares whole charts; the day pillar is only one piece. Treat this as a conversation starter, not a verdict on any relationship.
Eul-Chuk day pillar for women and men
Personality traits above apply to everyone. Gender enters only through an old convention: classical texts treat Wealth as the spouse star in a man’s chart and Officer in a woman’s chart. Modern readers apply the spouse palace to any partner.
Eul-Chuk woman
Seven Killings (辛) sits in the spouse palace as the middle qi, which classical texts read, for a woman’s chart, as a close and quiet but present bond: the partner star is “at home”. Being a hidden minor star, its influence is subtler and often grows with age.
Eul-Chuk man
Indirect Wealth (己) sits in the spouse palace as the main qi, which classical texts read, for a man’s chart, as a close and strong, visible bond: the partner star is “at home”. Being the main star, it tends to show clearly in daily life.
Eul-Chuk career and work style
Career themes in Saju come from the day master and from the star in the spouse palace, which also shows how a person behaves in private and in partnerships.
- From the Eul stem: design and visual arts, counselling and HR, marketing and networking, hospitality and service.
- From Indirect Wealth in the day branch: business, trading, investment and work that moves around.
- From the Decline stage: advisory, planning and roles that value experience.
Work that draws on the pillar’s keywords (enduring, frugal, quietly tough) tends to feel most natural for Eul-Chuk.

Eul-Chuk day pillar in 2027 (Jeongmi year)
2027 is the Jeongmi (丁未) year, Yin Fire over the Earth Goat, running from Ipchun (around 4 February 2027) to Ipchun 2028 in Saju.
| 2027 factor | For Eul-Chuk |
|---|---|
| Year stem 丁 Jeong | Eating God |
| Year branch 未 Mi (main qi 己) | Indirect Wealth |
| Eul at Mi | Nurture stage |
| Day branch 丑 vs 未 | Clash (丑未沖) |
For Eul day masters Jeong (丁) is Eating God and Mi holds Indirect Wealth plus Eul’s own root. Tradition reads a comfortable, productive year: talent turns into results and opportunities, and the Goat branch is the storehouse of Wood, so support is easier to find.
Chuk and Mi clash directly (丑未沖), and both belong to the Chuk-Sul-Mi punishment group. The spouse palace is stirred: moves, job changes or relationship shifts are traditionally expected, so plan changes deliberately rather than reactively.
Eul-Chuk days in 2027: Feb 15, Apr 16, Jun 15, Aug 14, Oct 13, Dec 12. Some people like to schedule small personal milestones on their own pillar’s days, purely for fun.
Year readings are traditional entertainment. Make decisions about money, health or relationships on facts and professional advice.
Traditional labels and concept notes
- Storage (“flower-canopy”) branch — Jin, Sul, Chuk and Mi close each season and store its energy. Tradition links them with Hwagae (華蓋): reflection, study, art and spiritual interests.
- Nayin: Gold in the Sea (海中金), the “sound element” shared with Gap-Ja (甲子).
- Empty branches (gongmang, 空亡): Sul and Hae (戌亥), because Eul-Chuk belongs to the decade that starts with 甲子.
- Same pillar as the years 1925, 1985, 2045 (for the year pillar, not the day).
Labels such as Goegang or Baekho come from classical star lists that vary between schools. They are historical vocabulary, not predictions.

How to find your day pillar
- Open the free Korean Saju calculator and enter your birth date, time and city.
- Read the day column of your chart: the top character is your day master, the bottom one your spouse palace.
- Check births near midnight: schools differ on whether 11 pm–midnight belongs to the same day or the next.
- Unlike the year and month, the day pillar ignores solar terms: it is a continuous 60-day count, so Eul-Chuk returns every 60 days.
