Eul-Sa day pillar personality
- charming
- expressive
- sociable
Eul-Sa is a blossom in the early-summer sun. Fire is Output for Wood, so tradition reads charm, expressiveness and a talent for being noticed. Eul in its Bath stage adds style and romantic curiosity. Some schools list Eul-Sa among the Goran pillars, a traditional label about independence in relationships. Too much sun dries the flower; rest and steady support matter.
The Eul day master
Eul (乙) is the grass and the vine: flexible, sociable and quietly tenacious. It bends with the wind instead of breaking and finds a way around obstacles rather than through them.
Sitting on Sa (巳)
Sa (巳) is early-summer fire with metal hidden inside. As a day branch it adds quick thinking, strategy and a warm but watchful presence. Its main hidden stem, 丙, is Hurting Officer to a Eul day master (expression, creativity, rebellion), so the inner self leans toward expression.
Like every one of the 60 pillars, Eul-Sa pairs a stem and a branch of the same polarity, so it is a purely yin pillar: receptive, inward and subtle in expression.
Hidden stems and the 12 life stages
Every earthly branch carries one to three hidden stems (지장간, jijanggan). Their share follows the traditional day-count table (월률분야) used by the site’s Saju calculator. Each hidden stem becomes a ten god when compared with the day master 乙.
| Hidden stem | Element | Role | Days | Ten god | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 戊 Mu | Yang Earth | residual qi | 7 | Direct Wealth | steady income, management, thrift |
| Gyeong | Yang Metal | middle qi | 7 | Direct Officer | order, duty, reputation |
| 丙 Byeong | Yang Fire | main qi | 16 | Hurting Officer | expression, creativity, rebellion |
Life stage: Bath (목욕)
Bath (Mogyok) is the infant being washed: exposed, curious and changeable. Tradition reads it as sensitivity, a strong sense of style and a restless search for new experiences, especially in romance. For Eul, that stage falls exactly on Sa, so the pillar’s own branch shows change and charm.
Five-element balance
On its own, the Eul-Sa pillar is led by Wood (50%), followed by Fire (27%), Earth (12%), Metal (12%). Water is absent from the pillar itself.
One pillar is only two of the eight characters in a full chart; the year, month and hour pillars often fill the gaps. Tradition treats under-represented elements as balancing themes, for example Earth → regular meals, routines, tidy spaces, gardening; Metal → decluttering, deep breathing, clear decisions; Water → sleep, water, journaling, quiet reading.
Eul-Sa in love and compatibility
The day branch is called the spouse palace. With Hurting Officer in the spouse palace, expectations are high and feelings are spoken frankly. Lively and creative together, but tradition advises gentle wording during arguments.
As a Eul day master, Eul-Sa is attentive and affectionate, reads a partner's mood well and values everyday tenderness. Starting (“post-horse”) branch: In, Sin, Sa and Hae begin each season. Tradition links them with Yeokma (驛馬, travelling horse): movement, change of place and busy schedules.
Compatible and challenging day pillars
- Best traditional match: Gyeong-Sin (庚申) — stems combine (乙 + 庚 → Metal) and branches form a six-harmony (巳 + 申).
- Friendly branches: Sin (Monkey) (six-harmony) and Yu (酉) and Chuk (丑) (three-harmony Metal frame).
- Most tension: Sin-Hae (辛亥) — the branches clash (巳 vs 亥) and the stems clash.
Compatibility in Saju compares whole charts; the day pillar is only one piece. Treat this as a conversation starter, not a verdict on any relationship.
Eul-Sa day pillar for women and men
Personality traits above apply to everyone. Gender enters only through an old convention: classical texts treat Wealth as the spouse star in a man’s chart and Officer in a woman’s chart. Modern readers apply the spouse palace to any partner.
Eul-Sa woman
Direct Officer (庚) sits in the spouse palace as the middle qi, which classical texts read, for a woman’s chart, as a close and quiet but present bond: the partner star is “at home”. Being a hidden minor star, its influence is subtler and often grows with age.
Eul-Sa man
Direct Wealth (戊) sits in the spouse palace as the residual qi, which classical texts read, for a man’s chart, as a close and quiet but present bond: the partner star is “at home”. Being a hidden minor star, its influence is subtler and often grows with age.
Eul-Sa career and work style
Career themes in Saju come from the day master and from the star in the spouse palace, which also shows how a person behaves in private and in partnerships.
- From the Eul stem: design and visual arts, counselling and HR, marketing and networking, hospitality and service.
- From Hurting Officer in the day branch: creative, verbal and reform-minded work: media, law, design, entertainment.
- From the Bath stage: fields that reward style, trends and change.
Work that draws on the pillar’s keywords (charming, expressive, sociable) tends to feel most natural for Eul-Sa.

Eul-Sa day pillar in 2027 (Jeongmi year)
2027 is the Jeongmi (丁未) year, Yin Fire over the Earth Goat, running from Ipchun (around 4 February 2027) to Ipchun 2028 in Saju.
| 2027 factor | For Eul-Sa |
|---|---|
| Year stem 丁 Jeong | Eating God |
| Year branch 未 Mi (main qi 己) | Indirect Wealth |
| Eul at Mi | Nurture stage |
| Day branch 巳 vs 未 | Fire directional group |
For Eul day masters Jeong (丁) is Eating God and Mi holds Indirect Wealth plus Eul’s own root. Tradition reads a comfortable, productive year: talent turns into results and opportunities, and the Goat branch is the storehouse of Wood, so support is easier to find.
Sa joins Mi in the Sa-O-Mi southern Fire directional group. Tradition reads momentum and like-minded company, with the reminder that extra Fire can mean extra heat in temper.
Eul-Sa days in 2027: Jan 26, Mar 27, May 26, Jul 25, Sep 23, Nov 22. Some people like to schedule small personal milestones on their own pillar’s days, purely for fun.
Year readings are traditional entertainment. Make decisions about money, health or relationships on facts and professional advice.
Traditional labels and concept notes
- Goran (孤鸞, lone phoenix, some schools) — an old label about independence in relationships; modern readers see it as a reminder to balance self-reliance with togetherness, not a sign of being single.
- Starting (“post-horse”) branch — In, Sin, Sa and Hae begin each season. Tradition links them with Yeokma (驛馬, travelling horse): movement, change of place and busy schedules.
- Nayin: Lamp Fire (覆燈火), the “sound element” shared with Gap-Jin (甲辰).
- Empty branches (gongmang, 空亡): In and Myo (寅卯), because Eul-Sa belongs to the decade that starts with 甲辰.
- Same pillar as the years 1905, 1965, 2025, 2085 (for the year pillar, not the day).
Labels such as Goegang or Baekho come from classical star lists that vary between schools. They are historical vocabulary, not predictions.

How to find your day pillar
- Open the free Korean Saju calculator and enter your birth date, time and city.
- Read the day column of your chart: the top character is your day master, the bottom one your spouse palace.
- Check births near midnight: schools differ on whether 11 pm–midnight belongs to the same day or the next.
- Unlike the year and month, the day pillar ignores solar terms: it is a continuous 60-day count, so Eul-Sa returns every 60 days.
