Gi-Sa day pillar personality
- diligent
- warm
- resourceful
Gi-Sa is a garden plot in May: warm, fertile and ready to produce. The Snake’s Fire nourishes Gi Earth, and Gi stands at its Peak stage, so tradition reads unusual drive and capability hidden behind a modest manner. Gi-Sa people are hardworking and practical but also strategic. Too much heat can show up as impatience or worry about details.
The Gi day master
Gi (己) is the garden soil: practical, nurturing and detail-minded. It grows things step by step and quietly manages what others overlook.
Sitting on Sa (巳)
Sa (巳) is early-summer fire with metal hidden inside. As a day branch it adds quick thinking, strategy and a warm but watchful presence. Its main hidden stem, 丙, is Direct Resource to a Gi day master (learning, support, documents), so the inner self leans toward learning.
Like every one of the 60 pillars, Gi-Sa pairs a stem and a branch of the same polarity, so it is a purely yin pillar: receptive, inward and subtle in expression.
Hidden stems and the 12 life stages
Every earthly branch carries one to three hidden stems (지장간, jijanggan). Their share follows the traditional day-count table (월률분야) used by the site’s Saju calculator. Each hidden stem becomes a ten god when compared with the day master 己.
| Hidden stem | Element | Role | Days | Ten god | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 戊 Mu | Yang Earth | residual qi | 7 | Rob Wealth | rival, drive, competition |
| Gyeong | Yang Metal | middle qi | 7 | Hurting Officer | expression, creativity, rebellion |
| 丙 Byeong | Yang Fire | main qi | 16 | Direct Resource | learning, support, documents |
Life stage: Peak (제왕)
Peak (Jewang) is the emperor at the height of power: the strongest of all twelve stages. It suggests leadership and great energy, with the classic warning that what peaks must also learn to yield. For Gi, that stage falls exactly on Sa, so the pillar’s own branch shows peak power.
Five-element balance
On its own, the Gi-Sa pillar is led by Earth (62%), followed by Fire (27%), Metal (12%). Wood and Water are absent from the pillar itself.
One pillar is only two of the eight characters in a full chart; the year, month and hour pillars often fill the gaps. Tradition treats under-represented elements as balancing themes, for example Wood → green, mornings, walks among trees, starting a course; Metal → decluttering, deep breathing, clear decisions; Water → sleep, water, journaling, quiet reading.
Gi-Sa in love and compatibility
The day branch is called the spouse palace. With Direct Resource in the spouse palace, care and emotional support flow easily. Tradition reads a nurturing, comforting partnership, with a gentle warning against over-dependence.
As a Gi day master, Gi-Sa is caring and attentive, builds a cosy everyday life and worries about the partner’s wellbeing. Starting (“post-horse”) branch: In, Sin, Sa and Hae begin each season. Tradition links them with Yeokma (驛馬, travelling horse): movement, change of place and busy schedules.
Compatible and challenging day pillars
- Best traditional match: Gap-Sin (甲申) — stems combine (己 + 甲 → Earth) and branches form a six-harmony (巳 + 申).
- Friendly branches: Sin (Monkey) (six-harmony) and Yu (酉) and Chuk (丑) (three-harmony Metal frame).
- Most tension: Eul-Hae (乙亥) — the branches clash (巳 vs 亥) and the stem 乙 controls 己.
Compatibility in Saju compares whole charts; the day pillar is only one piece. Treat this as a conversation starter, not a verdict on any relationship.
Gi-Sa day pillar for women and men
Personality traits above apply to everyone. Gender enters only through an old convention: classical texts treat Wealth as the spouse star in a man’s chart and Officer in a woman’s chart. Modern readers apply the spouse palace to any partner.
Gi-Sa woman
No Officer star sits inside the Gi-Sa spouse palace, so for a woman’s chart classical texts read partner timing from the other pillars and the ten-year luck cycles. The palace’s main star, Direct Resource, sets the tone of the relationship instead.
Gi-Sa man
No Wealth star sits inside the Gi-Sa spouse palace, so for a man’s chart classical texts read partner timing from the other pillars and the ten-year luck cycles. The palace’s main star, Direct Resource, sets the tone of the relationship instead.
Gi-Sa career and work style
Career themes in Saju come from the day master and from the star in the spouse palace, which also shows how a person behaves in private and in partnerships.
- From the Gi stem: accounting and operations, education and childcare, healthcare and care work, food, agriculture and retail.
- From Direct Resource in the day branch: education, academia, publishing, certification-based professions.
- From the Peak stage: leadership, entrepreneurship and high-responsibility posts.
Work that draws on the pillar’s keywords (diligent, warm, resourceful) tends to feel most natural for Gi-Sa.

Gi-Sa day pillar in 2027 (Jeongmi year)
2027 is the Jeongmi (丁未) year, Yin Fire over the Earth Goat, running from Ipchun (around 4 February 2027) to Ipchun 2028 in Saju.
| 2027 factor | For Gi-Sa |
|---|---|
| Year stem 丁 Jeong | Indirect Resource |
| Year branch 未 Mi (main qi 己) | Friend |
| Gi at Mi | Coming of Age stage |
| Day branch 巳 vs 未 | Fire directional group |
For Gi day masters Jeong (丁) is Indirect Resource and Mi is your own Friend root. Tradition reads a year of study, specialist skills and inner reflection, with strong self-reliance; avoid overthinking decisions that need action.
Sa joins Mi in the Sa-O-Mi southern Fire directional group. Tradition reads momentum and like-minded company, with the reminder that extra Fire can mean extra heat in temper.
Gi-Sa days in 2027: Feb 19, Apr 20, Jun 19, Aug 18, Oct 17, Dec 16. Some people like to schedule small personal milestones on their own pillar’s days, purely for fun.
Year readings are traditional entertainment. Make decisions about money, health or relationships on facts and professional advice.
Traditional labels and concept notes
- Starting (“post-horse”) branch — In, Sin, Sa and Hae begin each season. Tradition links them with Yeokma (驛馬, travelling horse): movement, change of place and busy schedules.
- Nayin: Great Forest Wood (大林木), the “sound element” shared with Mu-Jin (戊辰).
- Empty branches (gongmang, 空亡): Sul and Hae (戌亥), because Gi-Sa belongs to the decade that starts with 甲子.
- Same pillar as the years 1929, 1989, 2049 (for the year pillar, not the day).
Labels such as Goegang or Baekho come from classical star lists that vary between schools. They are historical vocabulary, not predictions.

How to find your day pillar
- Open the free Korean Saju calculator and enter your birth date, time and city.
- Read the day column of your chart: the top character is your day master, the bottom one your spouse palace.
- Check births near midnight: schools differ on whether 11 pm–midnight belongs to the same day or the next.
- Unlike the year and month, the day pillar ignores solar terms: it is a continuous 60-day count, so Gi-Sa returns every 60 days.
