Gi-Hae day pillar personality
- gentle
- adaptable
- resourceful
Gi-Hae is soft soil soaked by an early-winter river. Water is Wealth for Gi, and the Pig also hides Gap Wood, Gi’s Direct Officer, so tradition reads money sense and a stable partner. Gi-Hae people are kind, flexible and easy to like. With so much water, the soil can feel unstable; they benefit from clear priorities and saying no.
The Gi day master
Gi (己) is the garden soil: practical, nurturing and detail-minded. It grows things step by step and quietly manages what others overlook.
Sitting on Hae (亥)
Hae (亥) is early-winter water holding the seed of wood. As a day branch it adds generosity, imagination and an easygoing, open heart. Its main hidden stem, 壬, is Direct Wealth to a Gi day master (steady income, management, thrift), so the inner self leans toward steady income.
Like every one of the 60 pillars, Gi-Hae pairs a stem and a branch of the same polarity, so it is a purely yin pillar: receptive, inward and subtle in expression.
Hidden stems and the 12 life stages
Every earthly branch carries one to three hidden stems (지장간, jijanggan). Their share follows the traditional day-count table (월률분야) used by the site’s Saju calculator. Each hidden stem becomes a ten god when compared with the day master 己.
| Hidden stem | Element | Role | Days | Ten god | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 戊 Mu | Yang Earth | residual qi | 7 | Rob Wealth | rival, drive, competition |
| 甲 Gap | Yang Wood | middle qi | 7 | Direct Officer | order, duty, reputation |
| 壬 Im | Yang Water | main qi | 16 | Direct Wealth | steady income, management, thrift |
Life stage: Conception (태)
Conception (Tae) is the seed newly planted: potential, imagination and gentleness. It suggests a dreamy, adaptable nature that grows best with encouragement. For Gi, that stage falls exactly on Hae, so the pillar’s own branch shows new potential.
Five-element balance
On its own, the Gi-Hae pillar is led by Earth (62%), followed by Water (27%), Wood (12%). Fire and Metal are absent from the pillar itself.
One pillar is only two of the eight characters in a full chart; the year, month and hour pillars often fill the gaps. Tradition treats under-represented elements as balancing themes, for example Wood → green, mornings, walks among trees, starting a course; Fire → warm light, exercise that makes you sweat, social plans; Metal → decluttering, deep breathing, clear decisions.
Gi-Hae in love and compatibility
The day branch is called the spouse palace. With Direct Wealth in the spouse palace, the relationship is practical, loyal and home-building. Tradition sees a sincere, steady partnership that values security and saving together.
As a Gi day master, Gi-Hae is caring and attentive, builds a cosy everyday life and worries about the partner’s wellbeing. Starting (“post-horse”) branch: In, Sin, Sa and Hae begin each season. Tradition links them with Yeokma (驛馬, travelling horse): movement, change of place and busy schedules.
Compatible and challenging day pillars
- Best traditional match: Gap-In (甲寅) — stems combine (己 + 甲 → Earth) and branches form a six-harmony (亥 + 寅).
- Friendly branches: In (Tiger) (six-harmony) and Myo (卯) and Mi (未) (three-harmony Wood frame).
- Most tension: Eul-Sa (乙巳) — the branches clash (亥 vs 巳) and the stem 乙 controls 己.
Compatibility in Saju compares whole charts; the day pillar is only one piece. Treat this as a conversation starter, not a verdict on any relationship.
Gi-Hae day pillar for women and men
Personality traits above apply to everyone. Gender enters only through an old convention: classical texts treat Wealth as the spouse star in a man’s chart and Officer in a woman’s chart. Modern readers apply the spouse palace to any partner.
Gi-Hae woman
Direct Officer (甲) sits in the spouse palace as the middle qi, which classical texts read, for a woman’s chart, as a close and quiet but present bond: the partner star is “at home”. Being a hidden minor star, its influence is subtler and often grows with age.
Gi-Hae man
Direct Wealth (壬) sits in the spouse palace as the main qi, which classical texts read, for a man’s chart, as a close and strong, visible bond: the partner star is “at home”. Being the main star, it tends to show clearly in daily life.
Gi-Hae career and work style
Career themes in Saju come from the day master and from the star in the spouse palace, which also shows how a person behaves in private and in partnerships.
- From the Gi stem: accounting and operations, education and childcare, healthcare and care work, food, agriculture and retail.
- From Direct Wealth in the day branch: finance, accounting, administration and stable salaried roles.
- From the Conception stage: design, planning and early-stage projects.
Work that draws on the pillar’s keywords (gentle, adaptable, resourceful) tends to feel most natural for Gi-Hae.

Gi-Hae day pillar in 2027 (Jeongmi year)
2027 is the Jeongmi (丁未) year, Yin Fire over the Earth Goat, running from Ipchun (around 4 February 2027) to Ipchun 2028 in Saju.
| 2027 factor | For Gi-Hae |
|---|---|
| Year stem 丁 Jeong | Indirect Resource |
| Year branch 未 Mi (main qi 己) | Friend |
| Gi at Mi | Coming of Age stage |
| Day branch 亥 vs 未 | Wood triad (half) |
For Gi day masters Jeong (丁) is Indirect Resource and Mi is your own Friend root. Tradition reads a year of study, specialist skills and inner reflection, with strong self-reliance; avoid overthinking decisions that need action.
Hae joins Mi in the Hae-Myo-Mi Wood triad (half-combination). Tradition reads support from networks and a good year for collaboration.
Gi-Hae days in 2027: Jan 20, Mar 21, May 20, Jul 19, Sep 17, Nov 16. Some people like to schedule small personal milestones on their own pillar’s days, purely for fun.
Year readings are traditional entertainment. Make decisions about money, health or relationships on facts and professional advice.
Traditional labels and concept notes
- Starting (“post-horse”) branch — In, Sin, Sa and Hae begin each season. Tradition links them with Yeokma (驛馬, travelling horse): movement, change of place and busy schedules.
- Nayin: Flatland Wood (平地木), the “sound element” shared with Mu-Sul (戊戌).
- Empty branches (gongmang, 空亡): Jin and Sa (辰巳), because Gi-Hae belongs to the decade that starts with 甲午.
- Same pillar as the years 1959, 2019, 2079 (for the year pillar, not the day).
Labels such as Goegang or Baekho come from classical star lists that vary between schools. They are historical vocabulary, not predictions.

How to find your day pillar
- Open the free Korean Saju calculator and enter your birth date, time and city.
- Read the day column of your chart: the top character is your day master, the bottom one your spouse palace.
- Check births near midnight: schools differ on whether 11 pm–midnight belongs to the same day or the next.
- Unlike the year and month, the day pillar ignores solar terms: it is a continuous 60-day count, so Gi-Hae returns every 60 days.
