Gyeong-Ja day pillar personality
- articulate
- cool-headed
- sharp
Gyeong-Ja is metal sunk in icy water: clear, cool and sharp. Water is Output for Metal, so tradition reads intelligence, eloquence and a critical mind that sees through pretence. Gyeong sits in its Death stage, adding depth and focus. Gyeong-Ja people can seem chilly; warmth (Fire) in friends and pursuits balances the cold.
The Gyeong day master
Gyeong (庚) is raw metal: decisive, loyal and just. It cuts cleanly between right and wrong and moves quickly once a decision is made.
Sitting on Ja (子)
Ja (子) is midwinter water at midnight: quiet on the surface, alive underneath. As a day branch it gives an inner world that is clever, resourceful and private. Its main hidden stem, 癸, is Hurting Officer to a Gyeong day master (expression, creativity, rebellion), so the inner self leans toward expression.
Like every one of the 60 pillars, Gyeong-Ja pairs a stem and a branch of the same polarity, so it is a purely yang pillar: outgoing, initiating and direct in expression.
Hidden stems and the 12 life stages
Every earthly branch carries one to three hidden stems (지장간, jijanggan). Their share follows the traditional day-count table (월률분야) used by the site’s Saju calculator. Each hidden stem becomes a ten god when compared with the day master 庚.
| Hidden stem | Element | Role | Days | Ten god | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 壬 Im | Yang Water | residual qi | 10 | Eating God | talent, enjoyment, steady output |
| 癸 Gye | Yin Water | main qi | 20 | Hurting Officer | expression, creativity, rebellion |
Life stage: Death (사)
Death (Sa) is complete stillness: focus, depth and seriousness. Despite the name it is not ominous; it suggests a researcher’s mind that goes deep into one subject. For Gyeong, that stage falls exactly on Ja, so the pillar’s own branch shows deep focus.
Five-element balance
On its own, the Gyeong-Ja pillar is led by Metal (50%), followed by Water (50%). Wood, Fire and Earth are absent from the pillar itself.
One pillar is only two of the eight characters in a full chart; the year, month and hour pillars often fill the gaps. Tradition treats under-represented elements as balancing themes, for example Wood → green, mornings, walks among trees, starting a course; Fire → warm light, exercise that makes you sweat, social plans; Earth → regular meals, routines, tidy spaces, gardening.
Gyeong-Ja in love and compatibility
The day branch is called the spouse palace. With Hurting Officer in the spouse palace, expectations are high and feelings are spoken frankly. Lively and creative together, but tradition advises gentle wording during arguments.
As a Gyeong day master, Gyeong-Ja is straightforward and loyal, protects a partner fiercely but may express care bluntly. Cardinal (“peach-blossom”) branch: Ja, O, Myo and Yu are the four cardinal branches. Tradition links them with Dohwa (桃花, peach blossom): charm, visibility and popularity.
Compatible and challenging day pillars
- Best traditional match: Eul-Chuk (乙丑) — stems combine (庚 + 乙 → Metal) and branches form a six-harmony (子 + 丑).
- Friendly branches: Chuk (Ox) (six-harmony) and Sin (申) and Jin (辰) (three-harmony Water frame).
- Most tension: Gap-O (甲午) — the branches clash (子 vs 午) and the stems clash.
Compatibility in Saju compares whole charts; the day pillar is only one piece. Treat this as a conversation starter, not a verdict on any relationship.
Gyeong-Ja day pillar for women and men
Personality traits above apply to everyone. Gender enters only through an old convention: classical texts treat Wealth as the spouse star in a man’s chart and Officer in a woman’s chart. Modern readers apply the spouse palace to any partner.
Gyeong-Ja woman
No Officer star sits inside the Gyeong-Ja spouse palace, so for a woman’s chart classical texts read partner timing from the other pillars and the ten-year luck cycles. The palace’s main star, Hurting Officer, sets the tone of the relationship instead.
Gyeong-Ja man
No Wealth star sits inside the Gyeong-Ja spouse palace, so for a man’s chart classical texts read partner timing from the other pillars and the ten-year luck cycles. The palace’s main star, Hurting Officer, sets the tone of the relationship instead.
Gyeong-Ja career and work style
Career themes in Saju come from the day master and from the star in the spouse palace, which also shows how a person behaves in private and in partnerships.
- From the Gyeong stem: military, police and law, engineering and manufacturing, surgery and technical trades, sports and operations.
- From Hurting Officer in the day branch: creative, verbal and reform-minded work: media, law, design, entertainment.
- From the Death stage: research, analysis and deep specialist work.
Work that draws on the pillar’s keywords (articulate, cool-headed, sharp) tends to feel most natural for Gyeong-Ja.

Gyeong-Ja day pillar in 2027 (Jeongmi year)
2027 is the Jeongmi (丁未) year, Yin Fire over the Earth Goat, running from Ipchun (around 4 February 2027) to Ipchun 2028 in Saju.
| 2027 factor | For Gyeong-Ja |
|---|---|
| Year stem 丁 Jeong | Direct Officer |
| Year branch 未 Mi (main qi 己) | Direct Resource |
| Gyeong at Mi | Coming of Age stage |
| Day branch 子 vs 未 | Wonjin / harm |
For Gyeong day masters Jeong (丁) is Direct Officer and Mi’s main qi is Direct Resource. Tradition reads one of the cleaner patterns for recognition: promotion, appointment, passing exams or formal milestones, provided you work within the rules.
Ja and Mi form a Wonjin (resentment) and Hae (harm) pair. Tradition advises double-checking promises and tone in close relationships during 2027.
Gyeong-Ja days in 2027: Jan 21, Mar 22, May 21, Jul 20, Sep 18, Nov 17. Some people like to schedule small personal milestones on their own pillar’s days, purely for fun.
Year readings are traditional entertainment. Make decisions about money, health or relationships on facts and professional advice.
Traditional labels and concept notes
- Cardinal (“peach-blossom”) branch — Ja, O, Myo and Yu are the four cardinal branches. Tradition links them with Dohwa (桃花, peach blossom): charm, visibility and popularity.
- Nayin: Wall Earth (壁上土), the “sound element” shared with Sin-Chuk (辛丑).
- Empty branches (gongmang, 空亡): Jin and Sa (辰巳), because Gyeong-Ja belongs to the decade that starts with 甲午.
- Same pillar as the years 1900, 1960, 2020, 2080 (for the year pillar, not the day).
Labels such as Goegang or Baekho come from classical star lists that vary between schools. They are historical vocabulary, not predictions.

How to find your day pillar
- Open the free Korean Saju calculator and enter your birth date, time and city.
- Read the day column of your chart: the top character is your day master, the bottom one your spouse palace.
- Check births near midnight: schools differ on whether 11 pm–midnight belongs to the same day or the next.
- Unlike the year and month, the day pillar ignores solar terms: it is a continuous 60-day count, so Gyeong-Ja returns every 60 days.
