Gyeong-Sul day pillar personality
- commanding
- loyal
- determined
Gyeong-Sul is one of the classical Goegang pillars: metal guarded by dry, fire-holding earth. Earth supports Metal as Resource, so tradition reads strength, loyalty and a commanding presence. Gyeong-Sul people are reliable in a crisis and stand by their people. Rigidity and harsh words are the traditional cautions; flexibility multiplies their influence.
The Gyeong day master
Gyeong (庚) is raw metal: decisive, loyal and just. It cuts cleanly between right and wrong and moves quickly once a decision is made.
Sitting on Sul (戌)
Sul (戌) is dry autumn earth that stores fire. As a day branch it adds loyalty, a protective instinct and a serious, sometimes spiritual streak. Its main hidden stem, 戊, is Indirect Resource to a Gyeong day master (intuition, unusual learning, solitude), so the inner self leans toward intuition.
Like every one of the 60 pillars, Gyeong-Sul pairs a stem and a branch of the same polarity, so it is a purely yang pillar: outgoing, initiating and direct in expression.
Hidden stems and the 12 life stages
Every earthly branch carries one to three hidden stems (지장간, jijanggan). Their share follows the traditional day-count table (월률분야) used by the site’s Saju calculator. Each hidden stem becomes a ten god when compared with the day master 庚.
| Hidden stem | Element | Role | Days | Ten god | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sin | Yin Metal | residual qi | 9 | Rob Wealth | rival, drive, competition |
| 丁 Jeong | Yin Fire | middle qi | 3 | Direct Officer | order, duty, reputation |
| 戊 Mu | Yang Earth | main qi | 18 | Indirect Resource | intuition, unusual learning, solitude |
Life stage: Decline (쇠)
Decline (Soe) is the experienced elder past the peak: calm, prudent and reliable. It suggests maturity beyond one’s years and a preference for safe, proven methods. For Gyeong, that stage falls exactly on Sul, so the pillar’s own branch shows calm maturity.
Five-element balance
On its own, the Gyeong-Sul pillar is led by Metal (65%), followed by Earth (30%), Fire (5%). Wood and Water are absent from the pillar itself.
One pillar is only two of the eight characters in a full chart; the year, month and hour pillars often fill the gaps. Tradition treats under-represented elements as balancing themes, for example Wood → green, mornings, walks among trees, starting a course; Fire → warm light, exercise that makes you sweat, social plans; Water → sleep, water, journaling, quiet reading.
Gyeong-Sul in love and compatibility
The day branch is called the spouse palace. With Indirect Resource in the spouse palace, personal space and time alone matter. The bond is intellectual and intuitive; problems arise only if one person withdraws without explanation.
As a Gyeong day master, Gyeong-Sul is straightforward and loyal, protects a partner fiercely but may express care bluntly. Storage (“flower-canopy”) branch: Jin, Sul, Chuk and Mi close each season and store its energy. Tradition links them with Hwagae (華蓋): reflection, study, art and spiritual interests.
Compatible and challenging day pillars
- Best traditional match: Eul-Myo (乙卯) — stems combine (庚 + 乙 → Metal) and branches form a six-harmony (戌 + 卯).
- Friendly branches: Myo (Rabbit) (six-harmony) and In (寅) and O (午) (three-harmony Fire frame).
- Most tension: Gap-Jin (甲辰) — the branches clash (戌 vs 辰) and the stems clash.
Compatibility in Saju compares whole charts; the day pillar is only one piece. Treat this as a conversation starter, not a verdict on any relationship.
Gyeong-Sul day pillar for women and men
Personality traits above apply to everyone. Gender enters only through an old convention: classical texts treat Wealth as the spouse star in a man’s chart and Officer in a woman’s chart. Modern readers apply the spouse palace to any partner.
Gyeong-Sul woman
Direct Officer (丁) sits in the spouse palace as the middle qi, which classical texts read, for a woman’s chart, as a close and quiet but present bond: the partner star is “at home”. Being a hidden minor star, its influence is subtler and often grows with age.
Gyeong-Sul man
No Wealth star sits inside the Gyeong-Sul spouse palace, so for a man’s chart classical texts read partner timing from the other pillars and the ten-year luck cycles. The palace’s main star, Indirect Resource, sets the tone of the relationship instead.
Gyeong-Sul career and work style
Career themes in Saju come from the day master and from the star in the spouse palace, which also shows how a person behaves in private and in partnerships.
- From the Gyeong stem: military, police and law, engineering and manufacturing, surgery and technical trades, sports and operations.
- From Indirect Resource in the day branch: specialist knowledge: research, IT, medicine, alternative or niche fields.
- From the Decline stage: advisory, planning and roles that value experience.
Work that draws on the pillar’s keywords (commanding, loyal, determined) tends to feel most natural for Gyeong-Sul.

Gyeong-Sul day pillar in 2027 (Jeongmi year)
2027 is the Jeongmi (丁未) year, Yin Fire over the Earth Goat, running from Ipchun (around 4 February 2027) to Ipchun 2028 in Saju.
| 2027 factor | For Gyeong-Sul |
|---|---|
| Year stem 丁 Jeong | Direct Officer |
| Year branch 未 Mi (main qi 己) | Direct Resource |
| Gyeong at Mi | Coming of Age stage |
| Day branch 戌 vs 未 | Punishment & break |
For Gyeong day masters Jeong (丁) is Direct Officer and Mi’s main qi is Direct Resource. Tradition reads one of the cleaner patterns for recognition: promotion, appointment, passing exams or formal milestones, provided you work within the rules.
Sul and Mi form a punishment (刑) and break (破) pair. Tradition advises reading contracts carefully and keeping promises explicit in 2027.
Gyeong-Sul days in 2027: Jan 31, Apr 1, May 31, Jul 30, Sep 28, Nov 27. Some people like to schedule small personal milestones on their own pillar’s days, purely for fun.
Year readings are traditional entertainment. Make decisions about money, health or relationships on facts and professional advice.
Traditional labels and concept notes
- Goegang (魁罡) — the "chief star" pillars: commanding, decisive, high-voltage; classically good for leadership roles, with a caution about extremes.
- Storage (“flower-canopy”) branch — Jin, Sul, Chuk and Mi close each season and store its energy. Tradition links them with Hwagae (華蓋): reflection, study, art and spiritual interests.
- Nayin: Hairpin Metal (釵釧金), the “sound element” shared with Sin-Hae (辛亥).
- Empty branches (gongmang, 空亡): In and Myo (寅卯), because Gyeong-Sul belongs to the decade that starts with 甲辰.
- Same pillar as the years 1910, 1970, 2030, 2090 (for the year pillar, not the day).
Labels such as Goegang or Baekho come from classical star lists that vary between schools. They are historical vocabulary, not predictions.

How to find your day pillar
- Open the free Korean Saju calculator and enter your birth date, time and city.
- Read the day column of your chart: the top character is your day master, the bottom one your spouse palace.
- Check births near midnight: schools differ on whether 11 pm–midnight belongs to the same day or the next.
- Unlike the year and month, the day pillar ignores solar terms: it is a continuous 60-day count, so Gyeong-Sul returns every 60 days.
