Byeong-Ja day pillar personality
- upright
- dignified
- bright
Byeong-Ja is sunshine over cold water: bright outside, disciplined inside. Water is the Officer element for Byeong, so tradition reads a person with a strong sense of propriety who often rises in organisations. The sun and the lake mirror each other, making Byeong-Ja charismatic and photogenic. Inner tension between warmth and restraint is the theme to manage.
The Byeong day master
Byeong (丙) is the sun: warm, open, expressive and generous. It wants to shine on everyone, speaks frankly and lifts the mood of any room.
Sitting on Ja (子)
Ja (子) is midwinter water at midnight: quiet on the surface, alive underneath. As a day branch it gives an inner world that is clever, resourceful and private. Its main hidden stem, 癸, is Direct Officer to a Byeong day master (order, duty, reputation), so the inner self leans toward order.
Like every one of the 60 pillars, Byeong-Ja pairs a stem and a branch of the same polarity, so it is a purely yang pillar: outgoing, initiating and direct in expression.
Hidden stems and the 12 life stages
Every earthly branch carries one to three hidden stems (지장간, jijanggan). Their share follows the traditional day-count table (월률분야) used by the site’s Saju calculator. Each hidden stem becomes a ten god when compared with the day master 丙.
| Hidden stem | Element | Role | Days | Ten god | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 壬 Im | Yang Water | residual qi | 10 | Seven Killings | pressure, courage, authority |
| 癸 Gye | Yin Water | main qi | 20 | Direct Officer | order, duty, reputation |
Life stage: Conception (태)
Conception (Tae) is the seed newly planted: potential, imagination and gentleness. It suggests a dreamy, adaptable nature that grows best with encouragement. For Byeong, that stage falls exactly on Ja, so the pillar’s own branch shows new potential.
Five-element balance
On its own, the Byeong-Ja pillar is led by Fire (50%), followed by Water (50%). Wood, Earth and Metal are absent from the pillar itself.
One pillar is only two of the eight characters in a full chart; the year, month and hour pillars often fill the gaps. Tradition treats under-represented elements as balancing themes, for example Wood → green, mornings, walks among trees, starting a course; Earth → regular meals, routines, tidy spaces, gardening; Metal → decluttering, deep breathing, clear decisions.
Byeong-Ja in love and compatibility
The day branch is called the spouse palace. With Direct Officer in the spouse palace, the relationship is proper, responsible and stable. Tradition regards it as a sign of a reliable partner and a respectable household.
As a Byeong day master, Byeong-Ja is warm and demonstrative, falls fast and shows it, wants a partner who enjoys being seen together. Cardinal (“peach-blossom”) branch: Ja, O, Myo and Yu are the four cardinal branches. Tradition links them with Dohwa (桃花, peach blossom): charm, visibility and popularity.
Compatible and challenging day pillars
- Best traditional match: Sin-Chuk (辛丑) — stems combine (丙 + 辛 → Water) and branches form a six-harmony (子 + 丑).
- Friendly branches: Chuk (Ox) (six-harmony) and Sin (申) and Jin (辰) (three-harmony Water frame).
- Most tension: Im-O (壬午) — the branches clash (子 vs 午) and the stems clash.
Compatibility in Saju compares whole charts; the day pillar is only one piece. Treat this as a conversation starter, not a verdict on any relationship.
Byeong-Ja day pillar for women and men
Personality traits above apply to everyone. Gender enters only through an old convention: classical texts treat Wealth as the spouse star in a man’s chart and Officer in a woman’s chart. Modern readers apply the spouse palace to any partner.
Byeong-Ja woman
Direct Officer (癸) sits in the spouse palace as the main qi, which classical texts read, for a woman’s chart, as a close and strong, visible bond: the partner star is “at home”. Being the main star, it tends to show clearly in daily life.
Byeong-Ja man
No Wealth star sits inside the Byeong-Ja spouse palace, so for a man’s chart classical texts read partner timing from the other pillars and the ten-year luck cycles. The palace’s main star, Direct Officer, sets the tone of the relationship instead.
Byeong-Ja career and work style
Career themes in Saju come from the day master and from the star in the spouse palace, which also shows how a person behaves in private and in partnerships.
- From the Byeong stem: broadcasting and media, sales and promotion, teaching and public speaking, entertainment and events.
- From Direct Officer in the day branch: public service, large organisations and roles with clear hierarchy.
- From the Conception stage: design, planning and early-stage projects.
Work that draws on the pillar’s keywords (upright, dignified, bright) tends to feel most natural for Byeong-Ja.

Byeong-Ja day pillar in 2027 (Jeongmi year)
2027 is the Jeongmi (丁未) year, Yin Fire over the Earth Goat, running from Ipchun (around 4 February 2027) to Ipchun 2028 in Saju.
| 2027 factor | For Byeong-Ja |
|---|---|
| Year stem 丁 Jeong | Rob Wealth |
| Year branch 未 Mi (main qi 己) | Hurting Officer |
| Byeong at Mi | Decline stage |
| Day branch 子 vs 未 | Wonjin / harm |
For Byeong day masters Jeong (丁) is Rob Wealth and Mi’s main qi is Hurting Officer. Tradition reads a year with competition and collaboration side by side: energy is high, but shared money, guarantees and impulsive spending deserve caution.
Ja and Mi form a Wonjin (resentment) and Hae (harm) pair. Tradition advises double-checking promises and tone in close relationships during 2027.
Byeong-Ja days in 2027: Feb 26, Apr 27, Jun 26, Aug 25, Oct 24, Dec 23. Some people like to schedule small personal milestones on their own pillar’s days, purely for fun.
Year readings are traditional entertainment. Make decisions about money, health or relationships on facts and professional advice.
Traditional labels and concept notes
- Cardinal (“peach-blossom”) branch — Ja, O, Myo and Yu are the four cardinal branches. Tradition links them with Dohwa (桃花, peach blossom): charm, visibility and popularity.
- Nayin: Valley Stream Water (澗下水), the “sound element” shared with Jeong-Chuk (丁丑).
- Empty branches (gongmang, 空亡): Sin and Yu (申酉), because Byeong-Ja belongs to the decade that starts with 甲戌.
- Same pillar as the years 1936, 1996, 2056 (for the year pillar, not the day).
Labels such as Goegang or Baekho come from classical star lists that vary between schools. They are historical vocabulary, not predictions.

How to find your day pillar
- Open the free Korean Saju calculator and enter your birth date, time and city.
- Read the day column of your chart: the top character is your day master, the bottom one your spouse palace.
- Check births near midnight: schools differ on whether 11 pm–midnight belongs to the same day or the next.
- Unlike the year and month, the day pillar ignores solar terms: it is a continuous 60-day count, so Byeong-Ja returns every 60 days.
