Eul-Yu day pillar personality
- elegant
- sharp
- refined
Eul-Yu is a delicate plant facing pure autumn Metal. With Seven Killings in the branch and Eul in Severance, tradition reads elegance, discipline and a sharp tongue when pushed. Eul-Yu people are often stylish and precise. The tension of the pillar suggests sensitivity to stress; creative outlets and supportive mentors (Water) bring balance.
The Eul day master
Eul (乙) is the grass and the vine: flexible, sociable and quietly tenacious. It bends with the wind instead of breaking and finds a way around obstacles rather than through them.
Sitting on Yu (酉)
Yu (酉) is pure autumn metal, the harvest blade and the jewel. As a day branch it adds precision, neatness and refined taste. Its main hidden stem, 辛, is Seven Killings to a Eul day master (pressure, courage, authority), so the inner self leans toward pressure.
Like every one of the 60 pillars, Eul-Yu pairs a stem and a branch of the same polarity, so it is a purely yin pillar: receptive, inward and subtle in expression.
Hidden stems and the 12 life stages
Every earthly branch carries one to three hidden stems (지장간, jijanggan). Their share follows the traditional day-count table (월률분야) used by the site’s Saju calculator. Each hidden stem becomes a ten god when compared with the day master 乙.
| Hidden stem | Element | Role | Days | Ten god | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gyeong | Yang Metal | residual qi | 10 | Direct Officer | order, duty, reputation |
| Sin | Yin Metal | main qi | 20 | Seven Killings | pressure, courage, authority |
Life stage: Severance (절)
Severance (Jeol) is the cut between one life and the next: decisive, fresh, sometimes changeable. It suggests clean breaks, quick fresh starts and openness to unusual paths. For Eul, that stage falls exactly on Yu, so the pillar’s own branch shows clean breaks.
Five-element balance
On its own, the Eul-Yu pillar is led by Wood (50%), followed by Metal (50%). Fire, Earth and Water are absent from the pillar itself.
One pillar is only two of the eight characters in a full chart; the year, month and hour pillars often fill the gaps. Tradition treats under-represented elements as balancing themes, for example Fire → warm light, exercise that makes you sweat, social plans; Earth → regular meals, routines, tidy spaces, gardening; Water → sleep, water, journaling, quiet reading.
Eul-Yu in love and compatibility
The day branch is called the spouse palace. With Seven Killings in the spouse palace, attraction to strong, intense personalities is common and the relationship carries some tension. Respecting each other’s space keeps the spark without the strain.
As a Eul day master, Eul-Yu is attentive and affectionate, reads a partner's mood well and values everyday tenderness. Cardinal (“peach-blossom”) branch: Ja, O, Myo and Yu are the four cardinal branches. Tradition links them with Dohwa (桃花, peach blossom): charm, visibility and popularity.
Compatible and challenging day pillars
- Best traditional match: Gyeong-Jin (庚辰) — stems combine (乙 + 庚 → Metal) and branches form a six-harmony (酉 + 辰).
- Friendly branches: Jin (Dragon) (six-harmony) and Sa (巳) and Chuk (丑) (three-harmony Metal frame).
- Most tension: Sin-Myo (辛卯) — the branches clash (酉 vs 卯) and the stems clash.
Compatibility in Saju compares whole charts; the day pillar is only one piece. Treat this as a conversation starter, not a verdict on any relationship.
Eul-Yu day pillar for women and men
Personality traits above apply to everyone. Gender enters only through an old convention: classical texts treat Wealth as the spouse star in a man’s chart and Officer in a woman’s chart. Modern readers apply the spouse palace to any partner.
Eul-Yu woman
Seven Killings (辛) sits in the spouse palace as the main qi, which classical texts read, for a woman’s chart, as a close and strong, visible bond: the partner star is “at home”. Being the main star, it tends to show clearly in daily life.
Eul-Yu man
No Wealth star sits inside the Eul-Yu spouse palace, so for a man’s chart classical texts read partner timing from the other pillars and the ten-year luck cycles. The palace’s main star, Seven Killings, sets the tone of the relationship instead.
Eul-Yu career and work style
Career themes in Saju come from the day master and from the star in the spouse palace, which also shows how a person behaves in private and in partnerships.
- From the Eul stem: design and visual arts, counselling and HR, marketing and networking, hospitality and service.
- From Seven Killings in the day branch: high-pressure roles: police, military, medicine, crisis management.
- From the Severance stage: new ventures, career switches and unusual niches.
Work that draws on the pillar’s keywords (elegant, sharp, refined) tends to feel most natural for Eul-Yu.

Eul-Yu day pillar in 2027 (Jeongmi year)
2027 is the Jeongmi (丁未) year, Yin Fire over the Earth Goat, running from Ipchun (around 4 February 2027) to Ipchun 2028 in Saju.
| 2027 factor | For Eul-Yu |
|---|---|
| Year stem 丁 Jeong | Eating God |
| Year branch 未 Mi (main qi 己) | Indirect Wealth |
| Eul at Mi | Nurture stage |
| Day branch 酉 vs 未 | No major relation |
For Eul day masters Jeong (丁) is Eating God and Mi holds Indirect Wealth plus Eul’s own root. Tradition reads a comfortable, productive year: talent turns into results and opportunities, and the Goat branch is the storehouse of Wood, so support is easier to find.
Yu and Mi have no major combination or clash; 2027 is read as a neutral background for the spouse palace.
Eul-Yu days in 2027: Jan 6, Mar 7, May 6, Jul 5, Sep 3, Nov 2. Some people like to schedule small personal milestones on their own pillar’s days, purely for fun.
Year readings are traditional entertainment. Make decisions about money, health or relationships on facts and professional advice.
Traditional labels and concept notes
- Cardinal (“peach-blossom”) branch — Ja, O, Myo and Yu are the four cardinal branches. Tradition links them with Dohwa (桃花, peach blossom): charm, visibility and popularity.
- Nayin: Spring Water (泉中水), the “sound element” shared with Gap-Sin (甲申).
- Empty branches (gongmang, 空亡): O and Mi (午未), because Eul-Yu belongs to the decade that starts with 甲申.
- Same pillar as the years 1945, 2005, 2065 (for the year pillar, not the day).
Labels such as Goegang or Baekho come from classical star lists that vary between schools. They are historical vocabulary, not predictions.

How to find your day pillar
- Open the free Korean Saju calculator and enter your birth date, time and city.
- Read the day column of your chart: the top character is your day master, the bottom one your spouse palace.
- Check births near midnight: schools differ on whether 11 pm–midnight belongs to the same day or the next.
- Unlike the year and month, the day pillar ignores solar terms: it is a continuous 60-day count, so Eul-Yu returns every 60 days.
