Sin-Yu day pillar personality
- refined
- precise
- self-respecting
Sin-Yu doubles yin Metal: the jewel in the jewel box. Stem and branch share an element and Sin is at Prosperity. Tradition reads refinement, precision, high standards and self-respect. Sin-Yu people often have impeccable taste. The traditional cautions are pride and sensitivity to criticism; warmth (Fire) and output (Water) help the jewel shine outward.
The Sin day master
Sin (辛) is the polished jewel: refined, precise and self-respecting. It values quality, aesthetics and clean standards, and notices flaws others miss.
Sitting on Yu (酉)
Yu (酉) is pure autumn metal, the harvest blade and the jewel. As a day branch it adds precision, neatness and refined taste. Its main hidden stem, 辛, is Friend to a Sin day master (peer, self, independence), so the inner self leans toward peer.
Like every one of the 60 pillars, Sin-Yu pairs a stem and a branch of the same polarity, so it is a purely yin pillar: receptive, inward and subtle in expression.
Hidden stems and the 12 life stages
Every earthly branch carries one to three hidden stems (지장간, jijanggan). Their share follows the traditional day-count table (월률분야) used by the site’s Saju calculator. Each hidden stem becomes a ten god when compared with the day master 辛.
| Hidden stem | Element | Role | Days | Ten god | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gyeong | Yang Metal | residual qi | 10 | Rob Wealth | rival, drive, competition |
| Sin | Yin Metal | main qi | 20 | Friend | peer, self, independence |
Life stage: Prosperity (건록)
Prosperity (Geollok) is the mature adult earning a salary: self-reliant and capable. It suggests independence, steady competence and a dislike of depending on anyone. For Sin, that stage falls exactly on Yu, so the pillar’s own branch shows self-reliance.
Five-element balance
On its own, the Sin-Yu pillar is led by Metal (100%). Wood, Fire, Earth and Water are absent from the pillar itself.
One pillar is only two of the eight characters in a full chart; the year, month and hour pillars often fill the gaps. Tradition treats under-represented elements as balancing themes, for example Wood → green, mornings, walks among trees, starting a course; Fire → warm light, exercise that makes you sweat, social plans; Earth → regular meals, routines, tidy spaces, gardening; Water → sleep, water, journaling, quiet reading.
Sin-Yu in love and compatibility
The day branch is called the spouse palace. With Friend in the spouse palace, partners are treated as equals and best friends. Independence is strong; a relationship works best with clear roles and shared goals rather than one person leading.
As a Sin day master, Sin-Yu is selective and elegant, wants to be cherished and treats a partner with care and taste. Cardinal (“peach-blossom”) branch: Ja, O, Myo and Yu are the four cardinal branches. Tradition links them with Dohwa (桃花, peach blossom): charm, visibility and popularity.
Compatible and challenging day pillars
- Best traditional match: Byeong-Jin (丙辰) — stems combine (辛 + 丙 → Water) and branches form a six-harmony (酉 + 辰).
- Friendly branches: Jin (Dragon) (six-harmony) and Sa (巳) and Chuk (丑) (three-harmony Metal frame).
- Most tension: Eul-Myo (乙卯) — the branches clash (酉 vs 卯) and the stems clash.
Compatibility in Saju compares whole charts; the day pillar is only one piece. Treat this as a conversation starter, not a verdict on any relationship.
Sin-Yu day pillar for women and men
Personality traits above apply to everyone. Gender enters only through an old convention: classical texts treat Wealth as the spouse star in a man’s chart and Officer in a woman’s chart. Modern readers apply the spouse palace to any partner.
Sin-Yu woman
No Officer star sits inside the Sin-Yu spouse palace, so for a woman’s chart classical texts read partner timing from the other pillars and the ten-year luck cycles. The palace’s main star, Friend, sets the tone of the relationship instead.
Sin-Yu man
No Wealth star sits inside the Sin-Yu spouse palace, so for a man’s chart classical texts read partner timing from the other pillars and the ten-year luck cycles. The palace’s main star, Friend, sets the tone of the relationship instead.
Sin-Yu career and work style
Career themes in Saju come from the day master and from the star in the spouse palace, which also shows how a person behaves in private and in partnerships.
- From the Sin stem: finance and audit, fashion, beauty and design, professional licences (law, medicine, pharmacy), precision technology.
- From Friend in the day branch: self-employment, freelancing or any role with personal autonomy.
- From the Prosperity stage: self-directed professional work with steady pay.
Work that draws on the pillar’s keywords (refined, precise, self-respecting) tends to feel most natural for Sin-Yu.

Sin-Yu day pillar in 2027 (Jeongmi year)
2027 is the Jeongmi (丁未) year, Yin Fire over the Earth Goat, running from Ipchun (around 4 February 2027) to Ipchun 2028 in Saju.
| 2027 factor | For Sin-Yu |
|---|---|
| Year stem 丁 Jeong | Seven Killings |
| Year branch 未 Mi (main qi 己) | Indirect Resource |
| Sin at Mi | Decline stage |
| Day branch 酉 vs 未 | No major relation |
For Sin day masters Jeong (丁) is Seven Killings and Mi’s main qi is Indirect Resource. Tradition reads a year of pressure and responsibility that can be converted into authority through study and planning; protect rest and health.
Yu and Mi have no major combination or clash; 2027 is read as a neutral background for the spouse palace.
Sin-Yu days in 2027: Feb 11, Apr 12, Jun 11, Aug 10, Oct 9, Dec 8. Some people like to schedule small personal milestones on their own pillar’s days, purely for fun.
Year readings are traditional entertainment. Make decisions about money, health or relationships on facts and professional advice.
Traditional labels and concept notes
- Stem-branch harmony (干如支同) — stem and branch share one element, so the self is strongly rooted: independence and persistence, sometimes stubbornness.
- Cardinal (“peach-blossom”) branch — Ja, O, Myo and Yu are the four cardinal branches. Tradition links them with Dohwa (桃花, peach blossom): charm, visibility and popularity.
- Nayin: Pomegranate Wood (石榴木), the “sound element” shared with Gyeong-Sin (庚申).
- Empty branches (gongmang, 空亡): Ja and Chuk (子丑), because Sin-Yu belongs to the decade that starts with 甲寅.
- Same pillar as the years 1921, 1981, 2041 (for the year pillar, not the day).
Labels such as Goegang or Baekho come from classical star lists that vary between schools. They are historical vocabulary, not predictions.

How to find your day pillar
- Open the free Korean Saju calculator and enter your birth date, time and city.
- Read the day column of your chart: the top character is your day master, the bottom one your spouse palace.
- Check births near midnight: schools differ on whether 11 pm–midnight belongs to the same day or the next.
- Unlike the year and month, the day pillar ignores solar terms: it is a continuous 60-day count, so Sin-Yu returns every 60 days.
