Mu-Sin day pillar personality
- productive
- versatile
- resourceful
Mu-Sin is a mine inside a mountain. Metal is Output for Earth, so tradition reads productivity, practical skill and versatility, plus the Monkey’s hidden Water as Wealth. Mu-Sin people turn effort into tangible results. Some schools list it among the Goran pillars; independence is strong. The caution is overwork: the mine needs time to rest.
The Mu day master
Mu (戊) is the mountain: solid, trustworthy and calm under pressure. People lean on Mu types, who prefer to mediate, protect and hold the line.
Sitting on Sin (申)
Sin (申) is early-autumn metal carrying the seed of water. As a day branch it adds versatility, cleverness and a love of activity and travel. Its main hidden stem, 庚, is Eating God to a Mu day master (talent, enjoyment, steady output), so the inner self leans toward talent.
Like every one of the 60 pillars, Mu-Sin pairs a stem and a branch of the same polarity, so it is a purely yang pillar: outgoing, initiating and direct in expression.
Hidden stems and the 12 life stages
Every earthly branch carries one to three hidden stems (지장간, jijanggan). Their share follows the traditional day-count table (월률분야) used by the site’s Saju calculator. Each hidden stem becomes a ten god when compared with the day master 戊.
| Hidden stem | Element | Role | Days | Ten god | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 戊 Mu | Yang Earth | residual qi | 7 | Friend | peer, self, independence |
| 壬 Im | Yang Water | middle qi | 7 | Indirect Wealth | big money, activity, opportunity |
| Gyeong | Yang Metal | main qi | 16 | Eating God | talent, enjoyment, steady output |
Life stage: Illness (병)
Illness (Byeong) is the stage of slowing down: gentle, sympathetic and imaginative. It suggests compassion, artistic or caring talents and a need to manage energy wisely. For Mu, that stage falls exactly on Sin, so the pillar’s own branch shows sensitivity.
Five-element balance
On its own, the Mu-Sin pillar is led by Earth (62%), followed by Metal (27%), Water (12%). Wood and Fire are absent from the pillar itself.
One pillar is only two of the eight characters in a full chart; the year, month and hour pillars often fill the gaps. Tradition treats under-represented elements as balancing themes, for example Wood → green, mornings, walks among trees, starting a course; Fire → warm light, exercise that makes you sweat, social plans; Water → sleep, water, journaling, quiet reading.
Mu-Sin in love and compatibility
The day branch is called the spouse palace. With Eating God in the spouse palace, home life is relaxed, affectionate and food-loving. This is traditionally one of the most comfortable spouse-palace stars, as long as comfort does not turn into complacency.
As a Mu day master, Mu-Sin is steady and dependable, shows love through reliability more than words. Starting (“post-horse”) branch: In, Sin, Sa and Hae begin each season. Tradition links them with Yeokma (驛馬, travelling horse): movement, change of place and busy schedules.
Compatible and challenging day pillars
- Best traditional match: Gye-Sa (癸巳) — stems combine (戊 + 癸 → Fire) and branches form a six-harmony (申 + 巳).
- Friendly branches: Sa (Snake) (six-harmony) and Ja (子) and Jin (辰) (three-harmony Water frame).
- Most tension: Gap-In (甲寅) — the branches clash (申 vs 寅) and the stem 甲 controls 戊.
Compatibility in Saju compares whole charts; the day pillar is only one piece. Treat this as a conversation starter, not a verdict on any relationship.
Mu-Sin day pillar for women and men
Personality traits above apply to everyone. Gender enters only through an old convention: classical texts treat Wealth as the spouse star in a man’s chart and Officer in a woman’s chart. Modern readers apply the spouse palace to any partner.
Mu-Sin woman
No Officer star sits inside the Mu-Sin spouse palace, so for a woman’s chart classical texts read partner timing from the other pillars and the ten-year luck cycles. The palace’s main star, Eating God, sets the tone of the relationship instead.
Mu-Sin man
Indirect Wealth (壬) sits in the spouse palace as the middle qi, which classical texts read, for a man’s chart, as a close and quiet but present bond: the partner star is “at home”. Being a hidden minor star, its influence is subtler and often grows with age.
Mu-Sin career and work style
Career themes in Saju come from the day master and from the star in the spouse palace, which also shows how a person behaves in private and in partnerships.
- From the Mu stem: administration and government, real estate and construction, finance and insurance, mediation and management.
- From Eating God in the day branch: skilled crafts, food, teaching and steady creative output.
- From the Illness stage: care, healing, arts and imaginative work.
Work that draws on the pillar’s keywords (productive, versatile, resourceful) tends to feel most natural for Mu-Sin.

Mu-Sin day pillar in 2027 (Jeongmi year)
2027 is the Jeongmi (丁未) year, Yin Fire over the Earth Goat, running from Ipchun (around 4 February 2027) to Ipchun 2028 in Saju.
| 2027 factor | For Mu-Sin |
|---|---|
| Year stem 丁 Jeong | Direct Resource |
| Year branch 未 Mi (main qi 己) | Rob Wealth |
| Mu at Mi | Decline stage |
| Day branch 申 vs 未 | No major relation |
For Mu day masters Jeong (丁) is Direct Resource, while Mi’s main qi is Rob Wealth. Tradition reads support, documents and learning (contracts, exams, certificates) coming in, alongside peers who compete for the same resources.
Sin and Mi have no major combination or clash; 2027 is read as a neutral background for the spouse palace.
Mu-Sin days in 2027: Jan 29, Mar 30, May 29, Jul 28, Sep 26, Nov 25. Some people like to schedule small personal milestones on their own pillar’s days, purely for fun.
Year readings are traditional entertainment. Make decisions about money, health or relationships on facts and professional advice.
Traditional labels and concept notes
- Goran (孤鸞, lone phoenix, some schools) — an old label about independence in relationships; modern readers see it as a reminder to balance self-reliance with togetherness, not a sign of being single.
- Starting (“post-horse”) branch — In, Sin, Sa and Hae begin each season. Tradition links them with Yeokma (驛馬, travelling horse): movement, change of place and busy schedules.
- Nayin: Highway Earth (大驛土), the “sound element” shared with Gi-Yu (己酉).
- Empty branches (gongmang, 空亡): In and Myo (寅卯), because Mu-Sin belongs to the decade that starts with 甲辰.
- Same pillar as the years 1908, 1968, 2028, 2088 (for the year pillar, not the day).
Labels such as Goegang or Baekho come from classical star lists that vary between schools. They are historical vocabulary, not predictions.

How to find your day pillar
- Open the free Korean Saju calculator and enter your birth date, time and city.
- Read the day column of your chart: the top character is your day master, the bottom one your spouse palace.
- Check births near midnight: schools differ on whether 11 pm–midnight belongs to the same day or the next.
- Unlike the year and month, the day pillar ignores solar terms: it is a continuous 60-day count, so Mu-Sin returns every 60 days.
