Chinese zodiac by birth year · 2007 · Updated 3 Nov 2026 · Hong Life
If you were born between Feb 18, 2007 and Feb 6, 2008, your Chinese zodiac sign is the Pig — more precisely the Yin Fire Pig (丁亥). Births earlier in 2007, from January 1 to Feb 17, 2007, still belong to the previous sign, the Yang Fire Dog (2006).
Personality, compatibility and luck readings below are cultural tradition, shared for entertainment.
The Chinese zodiac does not change on January 1. It follows the lunisolar calendar, so each animal year starts at Lunar New Year, the second new moon after the winter solstice, which always lands between January 21 and February 20. For 2007 that date was February 18, 2007.
| Chinese Lunar New Year (start of the Pig year) | Feb 18, 2007 |
|---|---|
| Last day of the Pig year | Feb 6, 2008 |
| Korean Seollal (설날) | Feb 18, 2007 (same day) |
| Vietnamese Tết | Feb 17, 2007 differs |
| Ipchun / Lichun 立春 (Saju & Bazi year change) | Feb 4, 2007, 14:18 Korea time (Feb 4 13:18 Beijing) |
| Japan (eto 干支 by calendar year) | Jan 1 – Dec 31, 2007 |
In 2007 Ipchun (Feb 4) came before Lunar New Year (Feb 18), so babies born from Feb 4 to Feb 17 have a 丁亥 (Fire Pig) year pillar in Saju but are still Dogs in the popular zodiac.
Every year in the 60-year cycle pairs one of ten heavenly stems with one of twelve earthly branches. 2007 is stem 丁 (Jeong / Dīng, Yin Fire) on branch 亥 (Hae, the Pig), number 24 of 60 in the cycle. The stem gives the year its element, which is why people say “Fire Pig” rather than just “Pig”.
| Heavenly stem | 丁 Jeong · Fire 火 |
|---|---|
| Earthly branch | 亥 Hae · Pig |
| Yin or yang | Yin (Yin years end in an odd digit) |
| Fixed element of the Pig | Water (水) |
| Nayin (納音) sound element | Rooftop Earth 屋上土 (Korean 옥상토) |
| Same pair repeats | 1947, 2007, 2067 |
Reading the element. Fire is the element of summer and visibility. Fire years are associated with enthusiasm, charisma, quick decisions and a need to share feelings openly. Tradition warns that the same heat can flare into impatience or burn out when a project stops being exciting. For a Fire year the keywords are passion, warmth and expression. The Pig itself carries Water as its fixed element, so this year blends fire energy with water qualities.
The nayin image. The 60 pairs also have 30 poetic “nayin” names, shared by two neighbouring years. 2006 and 2007 are Rooftop Earth (屋上土), pictured as the earth tiles of a roof: shelter, responsibility for a household and steady, unglamorous reliability.
The same 丁亥 pair is also a Saju day pillar; see the Jeong-Hae day-pillar article for how the combination is read when it appears on the day of birth.
| Tradition | Name of 2007 | Year starts |
|---|---|---|
| Chinese | 丁亥 Dīng Hài · Fire Pig year | Feb 18, 2007 |
| Korean 띠 (ddi) | 정해년 (Jeong-Hae) · 붉은 돼지띠 | Seollal Feb 18; Saju: Ipchun Feb 4 |
| Japanese 干支 (eto) | hinoto-i · 丁亥 | Jan 1, 2007 |
| Vietnamese con giáp | Đinh Hợi · Hợi (Lợn/Heo, pig) | Tết Feb 17 |
Koreans often name the year with a colour taken from the stem element: Wood years are blue-green (청), Fire red (적), Earth yellow or golden (황), Metal white (백) and Water black (흑). That is why 2007 is called the year of the 붉은 돼지띠 (red pig). Japan has counted eto by the Gregorian year since 1873, so in Japan everyone born in 2007 counts as i (亥, Pig) regardless of the lunar date. In Japan the twelfth animal is the wild boar (inoshishi), not the domestic pig.
Keywords: generous, warm-hearted, sincere, easygoing + passion, warmth and expression
Folk readings make the Pig the zodiac’s good-hearted host: trusting, cheerful and tolerant, happiest when everyone at the table is well fed.
The Pig closes the cycle and symbolises wealth and abundance; in Korea dreaming of a pig is a classic sign of luck. In Japan the twelfth sign is the wild boar (inoshishi) rather than the domestic pig.
Where the Fire element shows. Tradition says the stem colours the animal: a Fire Pig is enthusiastic, expressive, inspiring. Compared with the Wood Pig of 1995 and the Earth Pig of 2019, the 2007 version is read as the most expressive and fiery Pig.
In love: Affectionate and devoted, putting effort into a comfortable home; Pigs want a sincere partner and dislike game-playing. At work: Suited to hospitality, food, healthcare, charity, education, the arts and roles built on trust.
Zodiac personality descriptions are folklore. Real personality is shaped by upbringing, culture and choices, and people born in the same year differ enormously.
Classical compatibility looks at how the two birth-year branches relate on the zodiac wheel. Signs four places apart form a Three Harmony trine, specific pairs form a Six Harmony, and signs directly opposite each other clash. For a Pig born in 2007, the nearest-age examples are:
| Sign | Rating | Nearby birth years | Why (tradition) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tiger | Best match | 1998, 2010 | A Six Harmony pair: tradition calls these "secret friends" who quietly complete each other. |
| Rabbit | Great match | 1999, 2011 | Both belong to the Wood trine (Pig, Rabbit, Goat), sharing goals and a similar pace. |
| Goat | Great match | 2003, 2015 | Both belong to the Wood trine (Pig, Rabbit, Goat), sharing goals and a similar pace. |
| Pig | Same sign | 1995, 2019 | Same sign with a self-punishment flag: you understand each other but may amplify the same weaknesses. |
| Monkey | Challenging | 2004, 2016 | A Harm pair: small misunderstandings can pile up; regular honest talk helps. |
| Snake | Most challenging | 2001, 2013 | Directly opposite on the zodiac wheel: different rhythms and priorities, so compromise is essential. |
Korean folk matchmaking (gunghap, 궁합) also watches for wonjin (원진) pairs, said to breed resentment; for the Pig that partner is the Dragon. See the full 12×12 compatibility chart or the Year of the Pig guide. A real compatibility reading in Saju compares all eight characters of both charts, not just the year animal.
| Lucky numbers (popular list) | 2, 5, 8 |

| Lucky colours (popular list) | yellow, grey |
| Five-element colour of 2007 | red — from the Fire stem 丁 |
| Element that supports Fire | Wood (generates Fire) → colour green |
| Direction of the Pig | North-northwest |
| Pig hour | 21:00–23:00 |
Two different ideas get mixed together online. The “lucky numbers and colours” lists are a modern popular folklore that varies from one website to another. The five-element colours are older: they come from the correspondence of Wood–green, Fire–red, Earth–yellow, Metal–white and Water–black, which is also behind Korean names such as 붉은 돼지띠. Treat both as fun cultural trivia.
2027 is Jeongmi (丁未), the Yin Fire Goat — called the “red sheep” year (붉은 양띠) in Korea. In the Chinese calendar it begins on Feb 6, 2027 and ends on Jan 25, 2028; Korea celebrates Seollal on Feb 7, 2027 because the new moon falls just after midnight Korea time. For Saju, the year pillar changes at Ipchun on Feb 4, 2027 at about 10:46 KST. Tradition reads 2027 as a supportive year for the Fire Pig:
| Animal vs. Goat | Three Harmony (Wood trine) with the Goat · Very good |
|---|---|
| Element vs. Fire stem | Fire meets Fire |
| Age during 2027 | 20 |
| Next Pig year | 2031 |
Your sign shares the Wood trine (Pig–Rabbit–Goat) with 2027, a traditionally co-operative pairing that favours growth, learning and new networks. In Korean folk practice, though, Pig, Rabbit and Goat are in their final samjae (삼재) year, nal-samjae, so the advice is to finish things cleanly rather than overreach.
Your birth-year element is the same as the year’s stem. Expect a confidence boost and more peers, competitors and social invitations; tradition warns against impulsive spending and ego clashes.

| Age | 2026 | 2027 |

The 60-year cycle gives East Asian birthdays their biggest milestone: when the same stem-and-branch pair (丁亥) returns, a person has completed one full cycle. In Korea this is hwangap (환갑) and in Japan kanreki; for people born in 2007 it falls in 2067. Chilsun (70th) follows in 2077 and palsun (80th) in 2087.
The Pig returns every 12 years, but the element changes each time, so the same Fire Pig element comes back only every 60 years.

2007 is the Year of the Yin Fire Pig (丁亥, Dīng Hài). The year began at Lunar New Year on Feb 18, 2007 and ended on Feb 6, 2008, so people born in that window are Pigs. This is cultural tradition, shared for entertainment.
Only if you were born on or after Feb 18, 2007. Births from January 1 to Feb 17, 2007 belong to the Yang Fire Dog of 2006. Korean Saju uses a different boundary, Ipchun on Feb 4, 2007 (Korea time), for the year pillar.
Traditionally the Tiger is the best match (Six Harmony), followed by the Rabbit and Goat (Three Harmony). The Snake is the opposite, clashing sign, and the Monkey forms a Harm pair.
Someone born in 2007 turns 19 during 2026 and 20 during 2027 (international age; before the birthday they are a year younger). Korea’s traditional count age would add one year, but it has not been used officially since June 2023.
Three Harmony (Wood trine) with the Goat. Your birth-year element is the same as the year’s stem. Expect a confidence boost and more peers, competitors and social invitations; tradition warns against impulsive spending and ego clashes. Read it as cultural tradition for fun, not as a prediction.
In Korean, 2007 is 정해-nyeon (정해년, Jeong-Hae), the year of the 돼지, so people born then are 붉은 돼지띠 — literally a red pig, from the Fire colour of the Fire stem.
