About these EMI guides

Each article works out the EMI with the standard reducing-balance formula and the rates borrowers are actually being offered after the RBI’s October 2026 repo hike to 5.50%. For home loans we use 8% as a typical rate for a salaried borrower with a good credit score (SBI: 7.5%–8.8%; HDFC Bank: from 8%). Car loans use 9% (SBI 8.55%–9.5%) and personal loans 12%. Every page also shows other rates, so you can find the line that matches your sanction letter.
